Mondays are for Memories

So Mondays are for Memories on my blog starting today and I'm pretty excited about it! This week I am remembering Landon's first two Halloweens. SO many things change when you become parents especially how you celebrate holidays. Since Landon was born, Halloween has been reinvented for us! Before kids, we were just a lame married couple who stayed home and handed out candy to the 5 kids who came trick or treating. The best part about Halloween for us was that we got to eat the leftover candy, but now... it's like we're kids again. The excitement is back for us! Not only do we get to dress our kids up (Chandler, as whatever we want/ Landon, not so much anymore. He has chosen to be Elmo this year), but we also get to go to pumpkin patches, carve character pumpkins, make yummy Halloween treats, do fall crafts, and so much more.

Here are some memories that we've made over the past 2 years...

Landon's first Halloween! He was almost 4 months old. Our little superman!

Our little family (we've grown since 2008) at Journey Christian Church's Fall Family Festival. I was the event coordinator that year, so Daddy and Landon came to visit me. What I don't have a picture of is the beautiful flowers that Matt sent me in a pumpkin vase that we still have and are using today. I loved getting flowers that day, Matt!

Here is Landon last year as an Alligator. He didn't love the costume, but who can blame the kid? It was like 90 degrees outside and that costume was a little toasty!

My little barefoot boy at the pumpkin patch. He had just started walking! I can't believe how much he looks like a baby in this picture. So much changes in just 1 short year!

Me and my boy! Chandler Rae was in my belly.

Daddy taking his pumpkin carving very serious!

Pretty impressive Mickey, Daddy!

Brobee! If you don't know who this is, when you have kids you will quickly learn!

Uncle Alex went free-hand.

Good job Sheee!

Baking some yummy pumpkin seeds!

So good!

We painted pumpkins last year with friends, but Landon wasn't so sure about it.

We tried it again, but he was quickly over it. Don't you love it when you think you have this great fun idea for your kids to do and then they want nothing to do with it. Yeah, this was one of those for us.

We've had some good times the past few Halloweens sharing it with our little man, family, and friends! This year we get to share it not only with Landon, but with our sweet baby girl Chandler too. This is her very first Halloween and she will be going as a ballerina!

The memories for Halloween 2010 have already begun. Landon has really started to understand what's going on and is pretty excited about it. Everywhere we go he sees pumpkins and is sure to point them out to us! He helped me decorate this year too by putting fall leaf decals up on our windows. We've been doing lots of fall crafts, including painting pumpkins and creating fall wreaths! Landon was also very excited to make a Mr. Pumpkin Head with the parts from his Mr. Potato Head. Fall treats are very exciting for him too (of course). We made carmel apples last weekend and ate cookies shaped like leaves and acorns. (I promise we had vegetables too!) Saturday we went to Sea World's Spooktacular event and had a blast and tonight we are carving pumpkins! Could Halloween really get any better in The Sanders' house?

I'm so excited to make family traditions and memories with Landon and Chandler that they will always remember and maybe even continue doing when they have families of their own. Mondays are for memories and I had so much fun reminiscing today!

Share your Halloween memories too!
Post pictures of your little ones dressed up or share fall traditions in your home.
