Confession Session

I always say I'm going to keep up with my confessions, but I'm bad!

Thought I'd throw in a quick one just for fun today.

Yesterday, we went to an indoor gym that we attend twice a month. Landon loves it and it wears him out! I'm always one to talk to other moms. I just can't help it. It's who I am. I talk to everyone. Just ask Matt, he'll tell you it's true. I get it from my dad. Anyway, I asked this other mom who had both her children with her how far apart they were. (I like to compare with Landon and Chandler to see how it will be for me in a few months or so.) She told me they were 24 months apart. I was like "oh, that's great. Mine are 20 months, it's so fun right? Sometimes crazy, but fun." She said, "Yeah, it is. The difference between my son and older daughter is only 18 months though." I had to think for a second. That means she's had a baby... then 18 months later had another baby and then 24 months later had another baby. Her mom, who was with her, informed me she was ready for another one too. All that could come out of my mouth was, "Wow, you're crazy!" I felt pretty bad about saying that though. If she's like me, she counts her blessings daily and considers her children part of those blessings and all I had after she told me she had 3 was, "You're crazy!" I saw her a couple more times and just smiled, but I could not get rid of the guilty feelings for basically telling her she was nuts. After the open gym was over I ran into her one last time picking up her daughter from the VPK they have there. I told her I thought she was awesome and that I was sorry for calling her crazy. She was so polite and said, "It's okay, I get it a lot and sometimes I do feel a little crazy!"

Sometimes thinking before we speak is a good idea!! This was just one more reminder for me to attempt to do it! We should all consider it, don't you think?

Confession Session Catch up

I could seriously have a confession session daily, but at the end of the day my brain hurts and I've forgotten everything I wanted to share. I'm also doing my best to keep my priorities straight [God, my family, my home, and then my blog] and 9 times out of 10 the kitchen needs a whooping! Any how, here are today's confessions...
  • Matt got the Christmas decorations down for me almost 3 weeks ago. I've been slowly but surly getting everything in place, but I'm still not done! Maybe by New Years I'll be finished.
  • I got my Christmas Cards done already [woohoo] and since I didn't actually send out our cards last year, I'm thinking about putting them in with this years.
  • I think I have been too hard on Landon lately. He has been acting out but I think it's my fault. The past two days I've done my best to avoid the word no and to find other ways around it. Definitely an improvement and my sweet boy is back. I expect so much of him since he's the big boy, but I have to remember he's only 2!
  • Matt watched the kids so I could get blood drawn this morning. I drove slow so I could have more "me time." I sang at the top of my lungs to The Frey, but was wishing so badly I had John Mayor's Battle Studies in the car! When I got to my location, there was a guy who was definitely checking me out. Made me feel good to know I still got it. If I had my kids in tote, he wouldn't have given me a second look.
  • Some of our neighbors drive me crazy! They're all a lot older and always looking down on us. Today instead of smiling and waving, I so badly wanted to stick my tongue out at this one lady. I refrained.
  • I stole puffs (snacks that dissolve in your mouth, made for infants) from Publix today. It was totally on  accident. Luckily, a good friend of ours [love you Kate] carried our groceries out and was able to take the money in for me.
  • Matt's birthday is Sunday and I still don't know what I'm going to do for him. This is so not like me! Hope you are not reading this, Matt :) I love you!
  • I think about Thanksgiving dinner about 5 times a day! I'm not eating any Turkey this year. We're eating at the Portifino and I'm so having crab legs!
  • I'm slacking on my showering commitment. Haven't taken one since Monday :0 *bout to get one in now though!
I'm sure there are more, but this is all I got right now. Would love to hear your confessions too! We all need to vent and get a good laugh in at the end of the day! Plus, it's nice to know we're not alone!

I'm Slackin'

I'm totally slacking on my blog! I really do have a lot to say, but I just haven't had a minute this week to sit down and type it up! I haven't been on Facebook much either this week, but I have been doing a lot of other very important things like.... putting God first, taking care of the kiddos and hubs, cleaning our house, taking showers, playing with friends, grocery shopping, reading, and here's the kicker... sleeping!!

I have to confess, before this week I wasn't doing a very good job of putting God first in my life and I really think that's why everything else seemed so awry around here. I can still do a better job of putting Him first, but I definitely think that I'm on the right track, and it feels great!

Isn't it funny too how when you do put Him first everything else just seems to fall into place? For the first time in months I feel like I'm actually able to keep up with our house! For so long I have felt like I'm drowning in house work! I feel like I'm actually doing a good job of making our house a home (at least this week)!

If you read my blog, "I'm so Hot," you'd also be happy to hear that I've been showering like, everyday!! It feels so much better to start off the day fresh and clean! It's no good walking around crusty all day plus, its the law (incase you didn't know), if you go out looking stank, you WILL run into everyone and their mom! Probably ex-boyfriends, and people you've worked professionally for too.

I've been so much more prepared with meals, and crafts and activities for Landon too. Being ahead makes all the difference in the world! I feel like a new person and the days go by so much more smooth when we all know what is coming next. It's no good when your toddler is following you around saying, mmmmm, yummmmm, mmmmm, yummy because they are starving and you have no idea what to give them! I find that I'm much happier with what he eats too when I already know what I'm making. This usually insures at least 1 veggie and a high protein low fat meal! Snack times are easy too when you already have it in position waiting for hungry bellies! Just writing gets me motivated to get started on tomorrows preparations because I know how awesome it feels to be ready for the day before my feet hit the floor and I also know how dreadful it feels to be behind before I even get started!

I've been using nap times to put my feet up and to get some reading in. And I have also been doing a little bit of quick cleaning while I have the time to focus. I find I'm able to get chores done about 10x faster without the kids at my feet.

One of the best parts about this week is that I've been going to bed about an hour or two sooner then I usually do and what a difference it has made. Last night I went to bed (aka feel asleep on the couch) at 8:00pm and I didn't get out of bed until 7:45am!! I was up at 3:45am with Chandler, but she quickly went back down. I will say for anyone who is up early with their kids and is hating me right now, this is a rarity! We are usually up around 6-6:30 in our house, but Matt was able to go in a little later this morning and he got up with Landon. Thank you, Matt!!

It's been a great week thus far and I'm looking forward to an even better weekend! I know when I put Him first there isn't much else to worry about! I may be slacking in the blog world, but the rest of my world is on the up and ups!

Blog Envy!

So I started this blog less than a month ago and I have to say I'm proud of myself. I've been keeping up with at least one blog a week (not too shabby considering how very busy my family keeps me).

I must admit though, at first, I was getting frustrated with the whole thing. I was definitely a little rusty on how to use blogger and I am such a, "when I want it, I want it now" kind of person (working on that, it's not always a good way to be). I really was getting borderline ridiculous with the whole thing! One night I went to bed so ticked that I think Matt was afraid to talk to me. Sorry babe!

Anyway, I got my blog up and running and then started checking out other blogs. I followed a few prior to starting mine back up, but I have to say, recently, I have stumbled across some AMAZING pages! So many awesome ideas are floating around in blog-land and so many woman and moms are out there workin' the blog world! The more I found, the more I got new ideas about how I could improve mine.

I think it will always be a work in progress, but I'm excited about some of the changes I made to it. I will confess though, I was coming down with some major blog envy! I was reading them and thinking, how in the world do these woman have time to put so much into their pages?! While I will continue to frequent a lot of them and get new and innovative ideas, I have had to remind myself why I created mine.

Most of why I started it back up was simply for me. I love to write and I just haven't in such a long time. It's also a great way to keep family and friends and anyone else who cares up to speed on what's up with us Sanders'. It's so fun to share too!

So... in addition to the new look, you'll be seeing some new features on my blog too. I'm going to start what I'll be calling Mondays are for Memories and will be blogging about well, memories. :) I'm also going to try to have frequent Confession Sessions. After all, my blog is about my confession's as a pastor's wife and a mommy of two. Every now and then, if I've got some juicy ones, you may see me throw them in at the end of a posting!

You can check out my favorites page (which is still a work in progress) for some of the sites I've been drooling over. Read some of these woman's "about me" if you want to find yourself wondering how in the world they do it! One day someone may look at me and think that, but as for today let me help you from thinking it with these confessions..

  • Today we had fruit and biscuits from the mall food court for breakfast, Subway for lunch, and hot dogs with "steam in the microwave" veggies for dinner!
  • There are two huge piles of unfolded clean laundry stacked up on the couch next to me and a fun pile of dishes waiting for me on the kitchen counter! I have no plans of touching them until tomorrow!!
  • I almost forgot to change Chandler diaper before putting her to bed tonight and there was poop in it! How could I forget!!??
  • I let Landon watch Mickey Mouse Club House while eating his dinner. (I HATE doing that, but I needed him to be contained to one place while I put Chandler to bed and I was in the mood for a smooth and easy evening. It worked.)
  • There are way too many piles of paper in my kitchen right now!
  • I'm 4 weeks behind on organizing my Sunday paper coupons and have not grocery shopped this week yet because of it. Crap!
  • And last but not least, I'm going to bed and letting go of it all! I have to remind myself that I have two small children and a husband and rest is more important then stressing out about it all.

Confession Session

While I am enjoying all the writing this blog is allowing me to do. I'm taking a break today and just throwing some confessions out there! It makes me feel better sharing with the world how I really feel.
Today my confessions seem more like a complain fest, but we are all entitled. Feel free to post yours too!

Today's Confessions:

  • The lower half of my body is so sore that I walked funny all day today. Yesterday I took Landon on a 3.5 mile speed walk with a friend. I have to admit, when I agreed to walk with her I didn't know she would be my personal trainer! Holy crap, I'm out of shape! I canceled on her tomorrow, but agreed to do it again on Friday. Time to get this mama back in shape!
  • At Chandler Rae's 6 month check up I was that germ-a-phobe mommy who was trying to keep us all healthy. This little boy with snot dripping down his face and tissues in his hand kept trying to play with Landon and I was mentally freaking out! There is a well side and a sick side at our doctor's office and his parents were letting him play on the well side. I was so annoyed by this!! I know kids get sick and I'm really not one to freak about this, but we all just got over a lingering 3 week cold and seriously, keep your germs on sick side please! We bathed in hand sanitizer about 4 times and washed our hands twice. I think we made it out okay.
  • This woman was smoking a cigerate on the playground (like literally on the playground) at the park today. I don't have issues with people who smoke, I mean it's a free country, but seriously on the playground?
  • As I was putting the kids in the car after the park, I noticed a sign that said,  Caution: State Prisoners Working. Sure enough, there they were emptying the trash cans and cleaning up the park! I am slightly disturbed by this. Am I wrong? Nothing against the prisoners, but I mean really? Who signs off on that? Someone who doesn't have children!
  • My kitchen is a complete wreck and I don't care! I'm breaking my own rules about having a clean kitchen, but I'm pulling a, "tomorrow is another a day."
  • I let Landon fall alseep on the couch tonight because he didn't want to sleep in his room. This is a very rare occasion since we are pretty strict on the bed time routine, but hey, he's had a long day too and who doesn't like cuddling with mommy for a while? I would've cuddled with my mom tonight too if I could've. (He's still laying asleep next to me now. I'm so lazy right now that I didn't feel like getting up to move him before I started writing.)
Would love to hear your confessions too! One of the best things in the world is hearing how everyone else is truly feeling. It's nice to know you're not the only one out there who's a little nutty isn't it? And sometimes it makes for a great laugh too!
